2005-2006 - Artists from the Casa de Velázquez

From November 27, 2005 to January 15, 2006

Presentation

Since 1992, the General Council of Loire-Atlantique presents each year an exhibition featuring the work of recent graduates from the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid.

The partnership between the two institutions allows the Garenne Lemot estate to open its doors to contemporary art and the Casa de Velázquez to expend its actions, beyond the Parisian borders, to a wider territory.
By supporting young painters, sculptors, engravers, photographers or architects, the exhibition is true to the mission statement of the cultural policy of Loire-Atlantique.
The exhibition is also true to the history of the Estate built by François-Frédéric Lemot (1771-1827) who wanted the estate, its gardens and its buildings, to be a source of inspiration for artists.
The work presented during the exhibition was done by French residents of the Casa, 2003 graduates, under the care of the Academy of Fine Arts: Nicolas Fussler, Ana González Sola, Marjolaine Pigeon and Sarah V. True to the tradition of welcoming a Spanish artist, the work of Gabriel Alonso, recipient of a grant from the city of Valencia, will also be presented during the exhibition.
