Cacault Collections, from Rome to Clisson

The Cacault brothers, friends of François-Frédéric Lemot were originally from Nantes. François, a diplomat in Italy in the late 18th century, collected paintings, sculptures and engravings. His brother Pierre, a painter, acquired the estate of La Madeleine in Clisson in 1798. The two brothers shared a vision of founding a school-museum and for a number of years, their estate was the home to François’s exceptional art collections, featuring works by Perugino, Simon Vouet, and Volaire, as well as sculptures by Canova and Laboureur, and engravings by Piranesi... On the occasion of this temporary exhibition, some of these works return to Clisson for the first time. An off-site exhibition by the Musée Dobrée in partnership with the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes.
