Eva Jospin - The Gorgon Forest

In the park, from July 2021 to July 2023

Presentation

This Voyage à Nantes project was co-produced by the Loire-Atlantique Department, owner of the Garenne Lemot estate.

Eva Jospin is a sculptor. Curious about materials and different techniques, she creates monumental works from basic components with infinite precision.

The beauty and resilience of nature, the anxiety and the fascination that emerge from mythology and fairy tales are sources of inspiration for the artist, who creates works where nature is symbolically staged.

The artist has devoted herself for several years to the theme of forests, which she sculpts out of cardboard to create the tree trunks, roots, branches and leaves. These motifs are once again central to her project for the Garenne Lemot Departmental Park, the sculpted cardboard serving this time as a matrix for a sculptural ensemble cast in bronze.

With her first monumental work in bronze, the artist created an installation composed of five majestic trees that surge up from the ground in a tangled network of intertwined branches and leaves.
