Éric Fonteneau - Life Size

From 24th June to 27th November

Presentation

The Domaine de la Garenne was created by sculptor François Lemot in the early 19th century, modelled on Italian landscapes and intended to serve as a source of inspiration for artists. In 2016, artist Éric Fonteneau was the Villa Lemot's artist in residence.

In this exhibition, he juxtaposes his own life-size compositions with works taken from Lemot's personal collection (now part of the collections of the Musée Dobrée). The result is a compelling dialogue between contemporary art, Roman sculpture and 19th century drawings. The exhibition is arranged into four acts: Sleeping Beauty, The Mystery of Asclepius, The Water Maidens and the Kindly Spirit of the Park.
