Un paysage, des artistes 1805-2014

From July 4 to October 19, 2014

Presentation

The Dobrée museum presents an exhibition on the history of the educative landscape that is the estate of Garenne Lemot. The exhibition will showcase engravings and paintings from the 19th century as well as works of art from two resident artists.

On the banks of the river Sèvre, the site of La Garenne Lemot was created from 1805 onwards by sculptor François-Frédéric Lemot whose aim was to establish a ‘landscape school’ for artists.

This exhibition showcases engravings and drawings by Lemot’s friends, as well as photographs by Franck Gérard and paintings by Julien Parsy, both of whom were the artists-in-residence at the Villa this year. The public is invited to discover the creation inspired by this stunning site between 1805 and 2014.

Numerous drawings, prints and paintings from public and private collections are presented here for the first time.
